Present Continuous Tense

A. Used to show an action that is happening now.

    Examples:
  1. I am waiting for my friend.
  2. Why are you laughing?
  3. Chee Loong is talking to his mother.
  4. It is raining heavily.

B. Used to show a future action that has been planned.

     Examples:
  1. I am not swimming with my friends this evening.
  2. We are visiting our grandfather on Saturday.    
  3. Amanda is going for a show tonight.

C. The passive form is used to show that the action is being done to the subject and not by the subject.

     Examples:

     Active : They are cutting the tree down.
     Passive: The tree is being cut down.             
   

1. The Present Continuous Tense is formed with 'am / is / are' + the Present participle.

2. The passive form of the Present Continuous Tense is formed with 'am / is / are' + 'being' + the past participle.
